Aetna Subscribes to CarrierConnect, to Act as Design Partner
January 2, 2006: Aetna Health Plans (www.aetna.com) and HealthConnect Systems (www.healthconnectsystems.com) announced today that Aetna has purchased a new product from HealthConnect called CarrierConnect. CarrierConnect is an online database that provides health carriers access to critical information about the market for small group health insurance plans. All information is derived from HealthConnect, an online quoting and network analysis tool used by 6,700 benefits agencies across 13 states. HealthConnect processes approximately 10,000 quote requests from brokers per day. This unique position and perspective allows carriers a near perfect look into the behavior of their broker distribution system.
With CarrierConnect, carriers can perform a variety of tasks critical to their marketing efforts. A small sampling of the types of information available from CarrierConnect is outlined below:
Market Intelligence – Of the 10,000 quotes per day, what percentage of the time is a particular carrier attached, when a carrier is attached to a quote which plans are quoted, and how do these statistics vary by county or over time;
Competitive Assessment – When a carrier is quoted, which other carriers are also quoted, how does one carrier’s plan designs and offerings compare to the types of plans quoted by brokers in the overall market, and how competitive are the rates and benefits;
Product Analysis – How does a carrier’s product portfolio match the products that are being quoted in the market, and how does this vary by county.
